Job Description :
Responsible for managing the credit process and portfolio for the Private Banking Group (“PBG”) and for supporting the PBG Executive Manager in all aspects of planning, directing and managing the banking activities. Provides matrix and direct management oversight to PBG line and credit officers responsible for analyzing financial and other data, underwriting and structuring borrowings, preparing all CRs, ordering and ensuring effective documentation, and directly negotiating and closing loan/line transactions with borrowers. Also responsible for ensuring there is appropriate monitoring of delinquencies, compliance with terms and covenants, and preparation of reports on various aspects of the loan portfolio.

Subject to Risk Management approval, lending authority will be in the range of $500,000 to $5 million.

Position Accountabilities

1. Through the oversight of the PBG line and credit officers, ensures a high standard of credit quality through the process of credit approval and portfolio monitoring and management.

2. Responsible for developing and implementing strategies and tactics to achieve business goals for high-net worth market segment.

3. Implements policies and procedures to comply with fundamental business and credit priorities of the bank.

4. Works closely with Wealth Management to integrate efforts to fulfill cross-business mission statement and value proposition.

5. Supports the PBG line officers and relationship managers efforts to develop new business, with a focus on credit.

6. Participates in Recruitment of Private Banking team members across the footprint; defines expectations for new hires. Assesses need for training for all members of the Private Banking team. Proactively works with Learning and Development to create proposals for training programs, and manages effective implementation of such programs.

7. Demonstrates and shares thorough knowledge of products and service needs of the high-net worth client segment, including regulatory/legal issues.

8. In highly complex, sophisticated credits, may analyze pertinent financial and credit data. Has authority to approve loans within delegated signing authority level; recommends to higher level of authority if appropriate and/or recommends loans for denial.

9. Collaborates on the development and support of loan pricing models/matrixes within guidelines established at the PBG and Group level; provides input regarding loan product pricing and features for loans over approval authority.

10. Assists the PBG Executive Manager with the leadership and management of the PBG, including strategic and tactical planning and budgeting.

11. Represents the bank as appropriate in its relationships with joint ventures, major customers, suppliers, competitors, government agencies, professional societies and similar groups.

12. Obtains and evaluates general and specific business conditions, and keeps top management advised on such matters.

13. Makes recommendations regarding the bank’s product and market coverage in collaboration with research, product development, marketing, pricing, and operational activities.

14. Assumes responsibilities for carrying out operations in accordance with federal and state laws and regulations, securing professional counsel when necessary.

15. Matrix-manages PBG line officers through other managers. Provides input into selection and performance management

16. Participates in acquisition and growth or divestiture activities, including investigations and evaluations in accordance with bank objectives and plans.

17. Prepares short and long-range plans. Monitors progress.

18. Conducts meetings as appropriate with PBG line and credit officers to communicate information, discuss problems, train staff on any procedure changes, and provide forum for staff to discuss pertinent issues.

19. Gathers market intelligence so that market opportunities may be capitalized on as they occur and the effects of competitive activity may be minimized.

20. Ensures that the PBG’s credit operating procedures are in compliance with the approved policies and procedures of the bank.

21. Participates in community and business functions/groups to ensure a positive image for the bank within the designated marketplace. Ensures compliance with CRA outreach program.

22. Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
